Ca fait rire les oiseaux

Black tea with raspberries and goji berries

Why does this tea make the birds laugh? Simply because it transports you on a summer breeze with its gourmet raspberry aroma.

Made with Orange Pekoe grade black tea from Sri Lanka (Celyan), it’s deliciously fruity with creamy notes without being too robust.

What is Orange Pekoe?

Orange pekoe is a grade of black tea leaf within the tea industry, not a brand of tea as many people think.

It is often used for black teas of Indian and Sri Lankan origin. The term “pekoe” refers to the young leaves, usually the two most tender leaves and the terminal bud, of the Camellia sinensis tea plant.

The term “orange” has nothing to do with the fruit, but would refer to the House of Orange-Nassau of the Netherlands, which historically had close commercial ties with tea production.

Orange pekoe tea leaves are often long, thin and tendril-shaped. They are considered to be of the highest quality.
